GearUP Booster Review: Does It Lower Ping? Plans, Free Trial and Who Should Skip It
GearUP Booster is a paid app that tries to give your online games a better route to the game server. Here is what GearUP says it does, what the trial really involves, what reviewers report, and how to test it on your own game without guessing.

The short answer
- What it is: a game network booster from GearUP Portal Pte. Ltd. that re-routes game traffic. It does not make your internet plan faster.
- When it can help: when the route between you and the game server is the problem, such as far-away servers or a congested provider route.
- When it will not: single-player games, or a connection that is already low and steady.
- The catch: the 3-day trial asks for a payment method and turns into a paid plan unless you cancel, and GearUP says it will not remind you.
What GearUP Booster is
GearUP Booster is made by GearUP Portal Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company that owns the official website and the GearUP and HYPEREV products. GearUP describes the app as connection optimization only, with no gameplay changes, and says it helps reduce high ping, packet loss, jitter and unstable connections across regions.
Its homepage claims more than 8 million monthly active users and more than 3,000 supported games. Those are GearUP's own figures, and we have not verified them.
How GearUP says it works
GearUP's own explanation is that internet providers sometimes send game traffic along longer routes when a network is congested. GearUP says it avoids those routes and sends your traffic along a dedicated path instead, and it compares itself to a private network for gaming. Games send live data that cannot be stored ahead of time the way a video can, so a long route shows up as lag.
It names Adaptive Intelligent Routing, which it says picks and adjusts routes. A separate GearUP page says its anti-packet-loss technology adjusts the connected network nodes automatically to pick more stable routes while keeping ping low, and calls it especially effective for Wi-Fi players.
One caution: GearUP's explanation page goes further and says packet loss disappears. That is a marketing claim. No routing service can promise that, and the page was last updated in November 2022.

| When it helps | When the route to the game server is congested or badly routed, especially on servers in other regions | CriticNest, Joe's Daily |
| When it does not | If your ping is already low and steady, such as a fast line near the server, it does little. One reviewer says it cannot beat physics | Joe's Daily |

Platforms and games
GearUP sells three things: a Windows app (which GearUP says can also boost console games), a mobile app, and the GearUP Router for console and PC. Its homepage lists Windows, iOS, Android, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PICO and Oculus Quest. macOS is not on that list.
GearUP's Windows page names Fortnite, Valorant, Apex Legends and Escape from Tarkov. GearUP has announced collaborations with games including Escape from Tarkov, PUBG, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Delta Force and Arena Breakout: Infinite. Check your own game on GearUP's supported games list before you start a trial.

Why games lag: ping, packet loss and jitter
Ping is how long a message takes to reach the game server and come back. Packet loss is when some of those messages never arrive. Jitter is how much your ping changes from one moment to the next. High ping feels slow. Packet loss makes a game stutter or snap you back. Jitter makes everything feel uneven. A faster plan does not fix any of these, because they are about the route and the quality of the connection, not its speed.
Check your connection for free
- On Windows, open Command Prompt and type
ping -n 50 8.8.8.8. When it finishes, read the line that says Lost. Zero is what you want. - Open speed.cloudflare.com. It reports latency, jitter and packet loss, and shows whether a problem is steady or comes and goes.
- GearUP's website lists a free Ping Test under Features. GearUP says it shows your ping and how much GearUP can cut it before you download. That second number is GearUP's own estimate, not a guarantee.
Try the free fixes first
- Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi can drop packets between you and the router.
- Pause downloads, game updates and cloud sync while you play.
- Restart your router and choose the closest server. A shorter distance means a shorter ping.
If you still lag after all three, a booster may be worth a trial. If the free fixes solve it, you saved the money.
Free trial, billing and cost
This is the part most reviews skip. It comes from GearUP's own User Agreement, section 10.2, which applies to subscriptions.
- Day 0: you sign upYou add a payment method. GearUP says the trial lasts 3 days, or as shown during sign-up. It cannot be combined with other offers.
- Day 3: the trial endsBilling starts at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it. GearUP says you will not get a notice that the trial ended.
- After that: it renewsThe plan renews automatically until you cancel. The agreement says there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods, to the extent the law allows.
Check the card hold. The agreement says your payment method is authorized for up to about 12 months of service as soon as you register, so your available balance or credit limit may drop. It says there are no charges if you cancel before the trial ends.
Know your region's rule. For the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, the agreement says you can cancel a subscription and ask for a refund within 14 days of the first transaction, reduced to reflect your use.
| Item | What to know | Source |

| Prices | GearUP does not list prices on its site. Third-party sites report monthly plans from about $4.49 to $9.99, a three-month plan near $29.99, and annual plans from about $50 to $99, depending on the source and your region | CriticNest, Pixel Blockbuster, Ranker Tool AI |
| Mobile and router | Mobile membership is reported near $6.99 a month and Router Membership near $9.99 a month. The HYPEREV router is reported at about $55.99 to $79.99 and has its own shop terms | Ranker Tool AI, Pixel Blockbuster |

How to test GearUP on your own game in 10 minutes
- Pick one online game and one server region.
- Measure your ping three times at the same time of day, using the in-game display or the Command Prompt test above. Write down the average and the worst spike.

Who should use it, and who should skip it
Try it if you play online games, connect to servers far from you or see ping spikes, and you already tried the free fixes.
Skip it if you only play single-player games, your ping is already low and steady, or you are on a cable close to the server and the game feels fine.
Is it safe for my game account?
GearUP says it only optimizes your network connection, does not interfere with in-game performance or data, and that you will not be detected or banned by a game for using it. It says it works with game developers and names BattlEye and Sony PlayStation. That page was last updated in November 2022.
We have not checked any game's rules, and they differ. Read your game's terms or ask its support before you use any network tool.
Questions
Does GearUP Booster lower ping?
It can, when the route to the game server is the problem. GearUP says it picks better routes, and reviewers say it helps with poor routing and distant servers but does little if your connection is already good. This page does not publish its own test results, so use the 10-minute method above on your own game.
Is it a VPN?
GearUP describes itself as connection optimization only. Reviewers describe it as re-routing game traffic rather than hiding your identity. We did not test any privacy features.
Does it make my internet faster?
No. It targets the route, not the speed of your plan. Reviewers state it does not increase bandwidth.
Is the trial really free?
You pay nothing if you cancel before it ends. It still asks for a payment method and renews into a paid plan if you do not cancel. See the timeline above.
Can I get a refund?
GearUP's agreement says purchases are final and there are no refunds for partially used periods, to the extent the law allows. People in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK have a 14-day cancellation right for subscriptions, according to the agreement.
Does it work on console, mobile and Mac?
GearUP lists a Windows app, a mobile app and a router for consoles, and says the Windows app can also boost console games. Its homepage platform list does not include macOS.
Will it help in EU4, EU5 or CK3?
We have not confirmed that these games are on GearUP's game list. Single-player campaigns do not connect to a game server, so there is no route to improve. If you play multiplayer, check GearUP's supported games list first.
Does using your link cost me more?
No. We may earn a commission when a new user pays.
Verdict
GearUP Booster looks like a legitimate tool for one specific problem: a poor route between you and the game server. It is worth a trial if you play online, still lag after the free fixes, and will read the trial screens and set a cancel reminder. Skip it if you play single-player games or your connection is already good.
